In addition to her plays, Herbert produced a number of successful plays for the stage and over 250 works for the cinema, including six films that were adapted from her plays. She is best known for her novel "The Old Curiosity Shop," also known as "The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe", which was adapted into a number of films in the silent era and again in the 1950s and 1960s.
